FAQ

These terms generally describe the concentration of aromatic materials within a fragrance. Parfum is usually the most concentrated, followed by eau de parfum, eau de toilette and eau de cologne.

Concentration is one part of the composition. The materials and their proportions also influence its intensity, diffusion and longevity.

Each composition has its own rhythm. Some materials make an immediate impression; others emerge gradually and remain close to the skin.

Our Eaux de Parfums on average may last from 4h to 8h. However, longevity varies with the formula, application, skin and environment. Allow time to observe how a fragrance develops on you.

A composition meets a different surface with every wearer. Skin temperature, moisture and the surrounding environment can influence its development. Individual perception also shapes which facets become most apparent.

Apply to clean skin, moisturised with an unscented lotion if needed. Allow the fragrance to settle without rubbing. Reapply according to the composition and your preference.

The wrists and neck are useful starting points. Apply lightly and allow the fragrance to settle.

Avoid the eyes, mucous membranes and irritated skin. If applying to clothing, test a concealed area first, as fragrance may mark delicate fabrics.

Keep the bottle upright, away from direct sunlight and heat, with the cap replaced after use. A cool place with a stable temperature is preferable to a bathroom, where heat and humidity fluctuate.

Fragrance can change over time. Its lifespan depends on the composition, storage and exposure to air, light and heat.

Follow any shelf-life or period-after-opening guidance on the packaging. A marked change in smell, colour or clarity may indicate that the composition has altered.

Begin with curiosity. Use the composition notes as an introduction, then experience the fragrance on skin.

Observe its opening, return to it after a few hours, and notice what remains. The Discovery Set allows you to encounter six ao fragrances over time, without having to decide at first impression.

Yes. Wearing fragrances together changes the balance of both compositions, bringing some qualities forward and softening others.

Begin with a light application of each. Observe the relationship as it develops, adjusting the proportions to your preference.

Stop using it and gently wash the affected area. Fragrance ingredients, including natural materials, can cause irritation or allergic reactions in some people.

If symptoms persist, recur or are severe, seek advice from a healthcare professional. If you have a known fragrance allergy, consult your dermatologist before use.

“Clean” is used differently across the fragrance industry. At ao, we prefer to describe our compositions through the materials they contain and the care taken in their formulation.

We work with botanicals and aroma molecules, considering their character, purpose and suitability within each composition. Natural origin alone does not make an ingredient suitable for every skin.

Our fragrances are formulated without parabens, phthalates, sulfates, formaldehyde, mineral oil or animal-derived materials.

Yes. Our fragrances contain no animal-derived ingredients or derivatives and are not tested on animals.

Resonance describes the human experience explored within a composition: intimacy, attraction, connection or proximity, among others.

It offers a starting point for enquiry. Your response remains personal, shaped by memory, context and perception.
